I like the stories

I like the stories.  I like the songs that tell the stories.  For instance the story of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Edmund_Fitzgerald was forever captured in the song by Gordon Lightfoot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0DqPSF2fyo which in turn gets retold by other performers.  As was our case, we were on a cruise ship out of Tampa down to Aruba, and up in the Piano Bar near the front of the ship, the guy at the piano seemed to have a particular penchant for that particular song.  I enjoyed that song a lot.  The impact of memories associated with songs are very cool.

In fact, there are a number of covers of this song.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRMOwWwFufA&feature=watch_response This guy has an interesting 12 string guitar, and it definately gives a different sound to the song.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3n7CqIldPpw&feature=related  Perhaps the imagery is just cool, “icewater mansions” “minutes to hours”  “broke deep” “superior, it is said, never gives up her dead” “maritime sailor’s cathedral”  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1qnWwhnzbo&NR=1 Different types of guitars bring different sounds to the song.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXZossCtWQQ&feature=related  Another 12 string guitar gives a different sound.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUZu3ZWlaR8&feature=related    A Cello, 2 guitars, and BYU’s men’s chior.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEi6hJbPlPE&feature=related  A cello, 3 guitars, and MSU’s men’s glee club.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zG32rNW5tYo&feature=related
